Found in Translation Exhibition (September 15 - November 4)

Found in Translation features four Iowa women artists, Judy Bales, Suanna Breed, Ananda Kesler, and Joanie McGinnis, who create artworks suggestive of the natural environment without literally depicting it. The exhibition title alludes to the translation of artistic media into new and surprising expressions. For each of the artists, the proclivity for introspection and a focus on spiritual growth has been inextricably interwoven with her art.

Northwest Illinois Audubon Society Monthly Meeting: Dr. Steve Hager Presentation (October 3)

The Stephenson County Historical Museum and the Freeport/Stephenson County Visitors Bureau partner with the Lindo Theatre to present this film series featuring classic films from 1967. Bonnie and Clyde starring Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman, Estelle Parsons: Bonnie Parker, a bored waitress falls in love with ex-con Clyde Barrow and together they start a violent crime spree through the country, robbing cars and bank.

2017 Northwestern Illinois Stand Down and Welcome Home (October 7)

This event will provide all veterans in Northwest Illinois with information about veterans’ benefits and services at the local, state and national level with an emphasis on mental health, traumatic brain injury, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Keynote speaker will be Jeff Willis, Gulf War Veteran. There will also be a special welcome home for returning Gulf War Veterans. Plus there will be fun filled activities, a meal and entertainment for veterans and their families.

Join this 12.5 mile bike ride from the Wes Block Trailhead to the Richland Creek Trailhead, or the 3 mile Walk or 1 mile Youth Walk beginning at the Richland Creek Trailhead. Life is good celebration and craft sale will be held at the Shelter at the Richland Creek Trailhead. The event is held in memory of longtime Stephenson County resident, Pauline K. Miller and all proceeds benefit pancreas cancer research.
